Principal double bass of the Orchestre National du Capitole de Toulouse and professor at isdaT, Damien-Loup Vergne is recognized for his commitment to transmission and preparation for the orchestral profession.

Born in Toulouse, Damien-Loup Vergne began studying the double bass at the Toulouse Regional Conservatory in Philippe Juncker's class. There, he earned a gold medal in solfège and a unanimous first prize in double bass in 2002.

That same year, he met Vincent Pasquier, principal double bass of the Orchestre de Paris, with whom he would go on to win his unanimous first prize in double bass from the Conservatoire Supérieur de Paris in 2004.

​

A member of the French Youth Orchestra from 2000 to 2003 and the European Union Youth Orchestra from 2003 to 2004, he also completed an internship with the Orchestre National du Capitole de Toulouse in 2002 (AIDA), as well as with the Orchestre de Paris during the 2003-2004 season.

​

After being appointed principal double bass of the Rouen Opera Orchestra in 2003, he joined the Toulouse National Capitol Orchestra in 2004, becoming principal double bass there in 2008.

​

He also became a double bass professor at the Toulouse Regional Conservatory (CRR) in 2011 and at the ISDAT (Institut Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Toulouse) in 2013.

​

Damien-Loup Vergne is involved in the "Preparation for an Orchestral Career" program and has been offering regular workshops with Cédric Carlier since 2012.
